Finley

Climber

Finley is our main climber and a key part of the arborist team, bringing a high level of skill, athleticism, and energy to every project. Fully qualified with NPTC and Lantra certifications, Finley completed his professional training through Brampton Valley Tree Services in Towcester, developing a strong technical foundation in modern arboriculture.

Starting his career as a groundsman, Finley progressed rapidly under Sam’s mentorship, working his way up to become an elite-level climber. His background in competitive sport, particularly football, has played a huge role in shaping his climbing style — giving him the strength, stamina, coordination, and mental focus required for demanding tree work.

Highly athletic and physically driven, Finley thrives in challenging environments and is known for his ability to keep pace with the intense physical demands of arboricultural climbing. Outside of work, his passion for skiing, adrenaline sports, and heights reflects the confidence and control he brings to the canopy.

Now setting his sights on competitive climbing events, Finley represents the next generation of professional arborists — combining technical precision with athletic performance and a genuine passion for the craft.

Groundsman

Dan

Dan is our main groundsman and a vital part of the arborist team, known for his exceptional strength, reliability, and hands-on expertise. Fully qualified with NPTC and Lantra certifications, Dan also holds specialist qualifications in the use of stump grinders and is highly skilled in operating a wide range of arboricultural machinery.

With extensive experience using cherry pickers, stump grinders, and large ground-based equipment, Dan plays a key role in keeping every job running smoothly and safely. He is also responsible for machinery maintenance, ensuring all equipment is in top condition and ready for demanding site work.

Beyond his technical ability, Dan is at the forefront of customer service. Friendly, approachable, and professional, he consistently leaves a positive impression on clients and is often praised for his attitude and work ethic. Customers trust him — and it shows.

Renowned for his physical strength, Dan takes pride in the demanding nature of ground operations, whether that’s managing heavy timber or loading machinery that most people wouldn’t attempt alone. With a wealth of experience as a groundsman in arboriculture, he is also trusted to oversee site operations when the team leader is required elsewhere.

Outside of work, Dan’s passion for motorbikes and adrenaline mirrors his love for the fast-paced, physical nature of arboriculture. He thrives in challenging environments and sees a long-term future within the industry, continuing to push himself and support the team at the highest level.

Specialist Climber

Robert

With 15 years’ experience in arboriculture, Rob brings an exceptional level of knowledge and practical skill to the team. Having worked extensively across the UK, he has been involved in a wide range of large-scale and technically demanding projects throughout his career.

Fully qualified with LANTRA and NPTC certifications, Rob supports the team on larger or specialist jobs, working alongside Sam and the main arborist crew to add experience, strength, and technical depth where required. His presence enhances complex operations rather than replacing the capability of the core team.

Rob specialises in technical dismantles and large timber work, where a methodical, powerful, and controlled approach is essential. Stocky and strong by build, he is particularly effective in situations that demand confidence, precision, and a calm working style.

Known for being friendly, honest, and reliable, Rob is highly respected by the entire team. His professionalism, experience, and steady approach make him a valuable addition on site and a trusted part of the wider operation.

Looking for a new career?

We are always looking to take on members of the younger generation who want to build a proper career in arboriculture as trainee tree surgeons.

Our approach is simple: we bring in young, motivated individuals and train them correctly from day one. Rather than inheriting bad working habits formed elsewhere, we focus on developing strong foundations built on safe working practices, correct techniques, and professional standards from the outset.

Guidance plays a crucial role in the development of a climber. Confidence in tree work must be built steadily and correctly — too little guidance can hold someone back, while too much responsibility too early can lead to unsafe habits or misplaced confidence. Our experienced arborists understand this balance and take an active role in mentoring trainees, ensuring skills, decision-making, and confidence develop at the right pace.

Samuel George Tree Services fully funds all training and qualifications, which are delivered through Brampton Valley — our trusted training provider. This combines formal, accredited education with hands-on site experience under the supervision of skilled professionals.

This structured approach allows us to guide trainees from complete beginners into skilled, reliable professionals — while ensuring our standards, safety, and quality of work remain consistently high.
